Elegy to Minnie - 2007

She was Minnie the Moocher to some of her fans;

she'd beg for your food and then lick your hands.

When they first saw her they named her Midnight,

for she was as black as anthracite.

She loved the kids and put up with a lot,

she had a warm personality, but never got hot.

She listened closely to what you would say,

Did you want to rest or run or play?

She was our long-term board and roomer,

but she finally succumbed to a painful tumor.

She was tried and true to the very end,

may god bless you Minnie, our dearest and best friend.
